About The Author

Kamran Kiasaleh is a Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Communications Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California. Prof. Kiasaleh has published more 100 referred IEEE journal and conference articles and is the inventor/co-inventor of 6 US patented designs in the areas of optical and wireless communications. He has been the principle investigator for a number of government-funded as well as industrial-funded projects. He was also the recipient of NASA Group Achievement award for his participation in the Galileo Optical Experiment, the first optical communications experiment with a deep space vehicle. Prof. Kiasaleh's primary areas of research and teaching are communications theory, optical communications, and tissue optics.

About The Book

Communications Lab Manual is designed to provide undergraduate students in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Telecommunications Engineering disciplines an opportunity to study communications systems in a laboratory setting. The experiments in this manual address fundamental concepts in communications systems, such as filter design, analog mixing, and oscillators / VCO realization. The aim is to introduce students to the intricacies of the design of the front-end of a communication transceiver while introducing the fundamental concepts of amplitude and phase modulation.
