About the Author: 

Noted historian and author, Dr. Ken Bridges, was born and raised in the Dallas, Texas area. He received a Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Arts and a doctorate at the University of North Texas in Denton. He currently lives in El Dorado, Arkansas where he has served as Professor of History and Geography at South Arkansas Community College since 2003. He has written six books. His "History Minute" columns appear weekly in nearly 70 newspapers. Dr. Bridges' wife, Lynn Marie, is also a historian. Together, the two have five sons and one daughter.
